Faux Drop Shadow Background
Let's get started with our first card project! I began by prepping my Berrylicious Crafty Necessities Cardstock with the Acai Berry Fresh Dye Ink. Using a large ink blending tool, I created a smooth layer over the entire panel. Once the background was set, I moved on to the star of today’s show–Rose Gold Shimmer Relief Paste.
With the Squiggly Lines Background Stencil, I slightly offset the stencil to create a faux drop shadow effect. Using the Mixed Media Palette Knife Set, I carefully applied the paste through the stencil using a gentle burnishing technique. Remember, it’s all about working in small doses to capture every intricate detail! After cleaning the stencil, I allowed the panel to dry while I prepared my focal elements.
To finish this card, I used the Classic Alphabet Die Set to create the sentiment “XO,” layering it with foam tape for depth. A few Gem Sparkles in Rhodonite added the perfect finishing touch!
Subtle Texture and Shine
For my second project, I opted for a panel of Starlight Crafty Necessities Cardstock and the Leafy Splendor Stencil from the upcoming Secret Garden Retreat 2024 collection. Instead of blending ink, I applied Brushed Pyrite Shimmer Relief Paste directly using my finger on an acrylic block. This method provided a gorgeous shine while letting the underlying texture shine through.
To add another layer of interest, I used the Fresh Flowers Die Set to cut a branched leaves image from Brushed Gold Metallic Cardstock. I even ran this die-cut through the embossing folder to match the texture of the background! For the finished card, I foam-mounted the layered leaves and added a stunning dove from the February 2025 Creative Cuts Doves in Flight die set, which I adorned with Pearl Shimmer Relief Paste for an ethereal glow.
Shimmer Relief Paste Accents on Build-A-Garden
In the final project, I rejuvenated my Build-A-Garden sets by incorporating Shimmer Relief Paste. I stamped the main floral cluster from the Craft Your Life Project Kit, Flourishing Garden, and then die-cut the black outline for a clean finish. Using Summer Afternoon and Pocketful of Sunshine for my flowers and Dried Petals and Deep Blue Seas for the foliage, I created a beautiful color palette.
For the finishing detail, I applied the Enchanted Gold Shimmer Relief Paste through the last stencil to add stunning accents to my flowers. This shimmery touch elevated the entire card design. Once assembled on a panel of Maple Yellow Crafty Necessities Cardstock, I added a few splashes of Enchanted Gold Metallic Watercolor to complete the look.
