EASY Fall Memory Keeping Idea Feat. Zero Waste: Autumn Leaves (With Video Tutorial!)

Hi there! It's Nathalie DeSousa here with a super easy fall memory keeping idea featuring the new Zero Waste: Autumn Leaves Die.  I love the fall season, so this new die is already a favorite.  I just love the detail and texture it creates in each of the leaves, but I am so drawn to the idea of using both negative and positive pieces on any project. I wanted to take advantage of the duality of the die for the cover of my Gratitude 2024/October Family album.

Everything about this cover says fall in style, and it comes together with just a few steps.  Let's take a closer look at all the details.

• Start with Color

Adding a touch of fall to your next memory keeping layout starts with warm, rich tones.  I  am using tones from Warm & Cozy Fresh Dye Inks (Sunshine, Orange Cream, Autumn Blaze), Deco Garden Fresh Dye Inks ( Dusky Pink, Coral Red), Martian Terrain Fresh Dye Inks ( Canyon Clay), and Dried Petals Fresh Dye Inks (Berrylicious) to create the color background for my page.  I simply used my ink blending tool and added colors so that they create a gradient of fall colors in the background. Once the ink dried, I added a piece of a Double Sided Adhesive paper to the back of this colored cardstock.

•  Time to Die Cut the Leaves

I am using the new Zero Waste: Autumn Leaves die to cut the leaves out of the colored paper. In order to create this title page, I die cut two panels side by side, thus creating the elongated look (5.5″ x 8.25″) of the panel. At the same time, I cut two panel (side-by-side) out of white cardstock, as I will be using the leaves to complete the background of the title page.

• Let's Assemble the Background

I  adhered the colored die cut panel to the base of my page, leaving a small frame around the panel.  Then, I am using the white leaves die cuts to fill the spaces in the background (only the larger leaves).  To add more dimension to the leaves, I am using the small branch-like die cuts to create the veins/stem on the larger leaves.

• Time for a Title

I want my title to pop from the background, so I am using Brushed Gold Metallic cardstock to create  the base for my title.  Once it is set in the center of the background, I am using a few of the colored leaves die cuts to create two clusters at each side of the circle.  For the title, I am using the new Timeless Sentiments: Holiday Edition and Brown Diamond from the Brilliant Red Glitter Cardstock set to create my title sentiment.  A bit of foam adhesive behind the title makes it pop from the background.
